Most complex problems do have a solution. It is only that we don't Attempt to think.

Many years ago in a small Indian village,

A farmer had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to a village moneylender. The Moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the farmer’s beautiful Daughter. So he proposed a bargain.

He said he would forgo the farmer’s debt if he could marry his Daughter. Both the farmer and his daughter were horrified by the Proposal.

So the cunning money-lender suggested that they let Providence decide the matter. He told them that he would put a black Pebble and a white pebble into an empty money bag. Then the girl would have to pick one pebble from the bag.

1) If she picked the black pebble, she would become his wife and her father’s debt would be forgiven.

2) If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father’s debt would still be forgiven.

3) But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into Jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the farmer’s field. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two Black pebbles and put them into the bag.

He then asked the girl to pick A pebble from the bag.

Now, imagine that you were standing in the field. What would you have done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what would you have told her?

Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.

2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the money-lender as a cheat.

3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order To save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

Take a moment to ponder over the story. The above story is used with The hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral And logical thinking.

The girl’s dilemma cannot be solved with Traditional logical thinking. Think of the consequences if she chooses the above logical answers.

What would you recommend to the Girl to do?

…Just try to answer it

Well, here is what she did ….

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without Looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

“Oh, how clumsy of me,” she said. “But never mind, if you look into the Bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I Picked.”

Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one. And since the money-lender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an extremely advantageous one.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Most complex problems do have a solution. It is only that we don’t Attempt to think.

Dad, Mom, Brother, Sister (and sometimes if someone possesses his/her grandmother or grandfather) known as a family. Yeah! It is a social unit where the father is concerned with parking space, the children with outer space, and the mother with closet space. I don’t know how you look at your life? But when you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses always. I think all you may agree with me on this statement. It is true that you don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them. If you ask me, I think family means putting your arms around each other and being there. Especially when our relatives are at home, we have to think of all their good points or it would be impossible to endure them.

I would like to ask you one question here. What is the great advantage of living in large family? Is it that early lesson of life’s essential unfairness? Yeah! The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family. Yes! Family is just accident. They don’t mean to get on your nerves. They don’t even mean to be your family, they just are. I don’t know how many of us thinks that if the family were a fruit, it would be an orange, a circle of sections, held together but separable – each segment distinct.

My cutest wife has been my closest friend, my closest advisor. And she is not somebody who looks to the limelight, or even is wild about me being in business. And that’s a good reality check on me. When I go home, she wants me to be a good father and a good husband. And everything else is secondary to that. I strongly believe that home is the place where boys and girls first learn how to limit their wishes, abide by rules, and consider the rights and needs of others. Off course, families are forever. God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers. One of the greatest things a father can do for his children is to love their mother. I don’t care how poor a man is; if he has family, he is rich.

It is the universal truth that other things may change us, but we start and end with the family. In time of test, family is best. Am I right?

Seven areas of your life where the practice of self-discipline will be key to your success.

Self-Discipline is one of core values for everyone. Most of us instinctively know it but flounder when asked the details or how to go about inculcating it. Here are some ideas which may help to show its relevance in our lives either personal or professional.

Those who have the self-discipline rule themselves and hence rule the world. It will prove for them a wonderful journey.

MAC ANDERSON is the founder of Simple Truths and Successories, Inc., the leader in designing and marketing products for motivation and recognition. These companies, however, are not the first success stories for Mac. He was also the founder and CEO of McCord Travel, the largest travel company in the Midwest, and part owner/VP of sales and marketing for Orval Kent Food Company, the country’s largest manufacturer of prepared salads.

His accomplishments in these three unrelated industries provide some insight into his passion and leadership skills. He also brings the same passion to his speaking where he speaks to many corporate audiences on a variety of topics, including leadership, motivation and team building.

Mac has authored or co-authored twelve books, which have sold more than 3 million copies. They include: 212°…The Extra Degree, Change is Good…You Go First, You Can’t Send a Duck to Eagle School, The Power of Attitude, The Essence of Leadership, The Nature of Success, The Dash, Charging the Human Battery, Finding Joy, Customer Love, Motivational Quotes and Learning to Dance in the Rain.

No stream or gas drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated and disciplined.” ~Harry E. Fosdick

Self-discipline and self-motivation are joined at the hip. Why is that? When you practice self-discipline you feel like you are in control of your life. You feel content and motivated because you’re moving toward your goals.

Brian Tracy is one of America’s leading authors on the development of human potential. He said this…”If I had to pick the #1 key to success, it would be…self-discipline. It is the difference in winning or losing; between greatness and mediocrity.”

Today, I would like to share Brian’s introduction in The Power of Discipline. 7 Ways It Can Change Your Life. Enjoy!

Introduction from The Power of Discipline – By Brian Tracy

Why are some people more successful than others? Why do some people make more money, live happier lives and accomplish much more in the same number of years than the great majority?

I started out in life with few advantages. I did not graduate from high school. I worked at menial jobs. I had limited education, limited skills and a limited future.

And then I began asking, “Why are some people more successful than others?” This question changed my life.

Over the years, I have read thousands of books and articles on the subjects of success and achievement. It seems that the reasons for these accomplishments have been discussed and written about for more than two thousand years, in every conceivable way. One quality that most philosophers, teachers and experts agree on is the importance of self-discipline. As Al Tomsik summarized it years ago, “Success is tons of discipline.”

Some years ago, I attended a conference in Washington. It was the lunch break and I was eating at a nearby food fair. The area was crowded and I sat down at the last open table by myself, even though it was a table for four.

A few minutes later, an older gentleman and a younger woman who was his assistant came along carrying trays of food, obviously looking for a place to sit.

With plenty of room at my table, I immediately arose and invited the older gentleman to join me. He was hesitant, but I insisted. Finally, thanking me as he sat down, we began to chat over lunch.

It turned out that his name was Kop Kopmeyer. As it happened, I immediately knew who he was. He was a legend in the field of success and achievement. Kop Kopmeyer had written four large books, each of which contained 250 success principles that he had derived from more than fifty years of research and study. I had read all four books from cover to cover, more than once.

After we had chatted for awhile, I asked him the question that many people in this situation would ask, “Of all the one thousand success principles that you have discovered, which do you think is the most important?”

He smiled at me with a twinkle in his eye, as if he had been asked this question many times, and replied, without hesitating, “The most important success principle of all was stated by Thomas Huxley many years ago. He said, “Do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not.”

He went on to say, “There are 999 other success principles that I have found in my reading and experience, but without self-discipline, none of them work.”

Self-discipline is the key to personal greatness. It is the magic quality that opens all doors for you, and makes everything else possible. With self-discipline, the average person can rise as far and as fast as his talents and intelligence can take him. But without self-discipline, a person with every blessing of background, education and opportunity will seldom rise above mediocrity.

In the pages ahead I will describe seven areas of your life where the practice of self-discipline will be key to your success. These areas include goals, character, time management, personal health, money, courage and responsibility. It is my hope that you’ll find a few “nuggets” that will help make your dreams come true.

It is the story of the mass I just received through the mail from dearest friend. Just take a look of it.

My Name is Rose……….

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.

I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.

She said, ‘Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?’

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, ‘Of course you may!’ and she gave me a giant squeeze.

‘Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?’ I asked.

She jokingly replied, ‘I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids…’

Growing Older

‘No seriously,’ I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

‘I always dreamed of having a college education and now I’m getting one!’ she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.

We became instant friends.. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this ‘time machine’ as she shared her wisdom and experience with me…

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went.. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I’ll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.

Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, ‘I’m sorry I’m so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I’ll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.’

As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, ‘ We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.

There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.

We have so many people walking around who are dead and don’t even know it!

There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.

If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don’t do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.

Anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.

The elderly usually don’t have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do.. The only people who fear death are those with regrets.’

She concluded her speech by courageously singing ‘The Rose..’

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives At the year’s end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago.

One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.

Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s never too late to be all you can possibly be.

When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they’ll really enjoy it!

These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.

Remember: GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.

We make a Living by what we get. We make a Life by what we give.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

If Government has been imposed and built a policy depending on the results and orders of Supreme Court about the use of Natural Resources and Wealth; then definitely everyone can see the long term benefits and results from this case. What would be the effects of this case on Anil Ambani and Reliance Group Of Companies? Reliance can excavate with full of energy at Krishna-Godawari due to the dismissal of uncertainties. They can provide and distribute the gas with $2.34 per million BTU to RNRL and gets profit of 3000 Cr/year. There is a space for Reliance to grab the market rates between Rs. 1200/- to 1250 within 12 to 18 months.

If there was a decision that RNRL can get the gas below 44% of market rate then 25 lakh investors can get a treasure trove of pure gold what we called it as “SONE KE UNDE DENE WALI MURGI.” RNRL seized with teeth because they lost the case. It is the dared target of RNRL Group that they generate 35,000 Mega Watts power now falls in trouble. Based on the directions and orders of honorable court RNRL expected to get the gas distribution. It is only the fact that they also pay the amount like others. If other gas customers can get and use the gas with the rates of $4.205 per BTU then why not RNRL and Reliance can do? It is possible that they can show and prove it by improving their work capabilities. Even though at this condition the valuation comes up for RNRL – 40, Reliance Infra – 750 and Reliance Power – 130 in today’s market.

There should be a policy to use natural resources and based on this policy if any law is being made and imposed at the national level then truly such type of things could be avoided in future. Off course, it will help to boost and benefited in the progress of our INDIA.

The Judgement Day of Supreme Court

Reliance has been demanded the increased rates from RNRL that has already been fixed by EGOM. Case filed at the honorable court. On 15th June, 2009 the resolutions came out from Mumbai High Court with the anticipation of RNRL. Mumbai High Court resolved this matter considering the prime importance of the agreement. On the basis of these resolutions Reliance filed a petition in Supreme Court. Supreme Court acts on the petition submitted by Reliance and determined that the previous conclusion of Mumbai High Court has been debarred.

Following are the important resolutions of Supreme Court are:

01. Agreement has not been legitimate support.

02. Private agreements made in families have not been bounded on company.

03. For Natural Gas distribution Supreme Court has been ordered to re-deal with Reliance and RNRL. This re-deal should be completed in next 14 weeks.

04. Agreed upon – application and to settle the rates of National Resources & Wealth are the final rights of Government.

Reliance commanded by Mukesh Ambani and RNRL by Anil Ambani. Even though they have a control on companies but could not have 100% shares that the ownership of which is evidenced. In that case, how it is possible to take a decision on a big family’s dining table that has been concerned with more than hundred thousand of investors and their economical life?

Members of Investing Organizations or the managerial committee who were situated on the bank of river; have they playing the role not to see, not to listen and not to hear like the three monkeys of Gandhiji? There is big gossip going on the corporate governance under the air-conditioned hall; but before one’s own eyes there is rule to evade the responsibilities and duties of such managerial committee. Just take an example of any company who is caught behind disputable things. Many times world has been seen that the managerial committee failed to protect the benefactors of investors.

Till such situations are permanent and the persons or who controls such companies and their business economy. It is not possible to fall down the deceiving risks of common investors. It is the most important reason that common people who are morally excellent and gracious never believe and trust on investing in Capital Market.

Supreme Court has been tried to give the new directions to the future. They agreed upon the respectable final rights of Government about to use and fixation of rates of natural resources. For that, Supreme Court ordered to enforce a law to make all sided policy is really respectable and well-coming. It is not our tradition to make a policy based on the long term vision for the purpose to use natural resources and wealth. But is our routine practice to make, implement and change policies with temporary plastering in such situations. It is the issue that we people break and rebuild the policies taken into consideration that how our relatives and one’s own people can get extreme profits and benefits. States like Orisa and Jharkhand who are having full of minerals; natural resources and wealth gets little amount as they have an ownership and rights of excavating. These states come in such a situation like a poor owner of rich treasure trove. On the contrary, digging owners who gets the license comes up with awful profit. It has been experienced and same is replicated in various natural resources and wealth like Coal, Minerals, Oil and Gas, Power, Water and Sand of River.

One Mind!

Till the death of Late Shri. Dhirubhai Ambani, the world has been seen that both Mukesh and Anil works with one mind. But many of us who were very closely to them already scared only because they recognized that it is not a famous pair of Ramayana i.e., Ram-Laxmana. And it happens.

After the death of Shri. Dhirubhai Ambani the volcanic discussions between them have been blown out. Many Political Leaders, Industrialists to an adopted brother of Ambani’s family; they all tried with their capability to make a compromise and frugality for three years. Finally, both brothers respect the words of their mother Smt. Kokilaben and agreed on the compromised documents she made. In 2005 they have singed a mutual agreement.

The important issue in the agreement what Smt. Kokilaben has been made is the distribution of Natural Gas found in a shovel of Krishna-Godawari. Reliance has got excavating rights of 42% or 56,000 squares Kms. of this area. Yeah! It is sufficient to know the importance of the Natural Gas. Agreed upon the mutual agreement what Smt. Kokilaben has been made; Reliance must deliver 2.8 Cr. British Thermal Units (MMBTO) of Gas for 17 years to Reliance Natural Resources. You know what? The price has been settled at $2.34 per million BTU. In future, Reliance refused to act upon the agreement and its conditions what they made with NTPC; and now the case filed at honorable court. In the meantime, it was the year 2005-2007. Reliance has been made $4.32 per million BTU and more than this with NTPC and many Gas Consumer Companies. Same time the prices of crude oil and natural gas has been burst with a roar in the International market. On the basis of these big figures Reliance demanded to increase the rates of natural gas up to the $4.32 per million BTU to the Government. On the presidency of today’s finance minister (former Defense Minister) Mr. Pranav Mukharji Empowered Group of Ministers has been set the rates on $4.205 per BTU. Not only they have been decided to take the review after every 5 years but also give the prime importance to set the order for gas distribution. Descending order has been set like Pesticide Industry, Power Generation Companies, Gas Distribution in Cities and Steel factories. At the beginning with the same system 4 Cr Cubic Meter per day distribution has been fixed. It has been increased for a long time without essential change up to 64 MMSCCMD and 30 MMSCCMD on impermanent basis.

Next day, there is news on every leading newspaper that they placed a headline “Mukesh Wins! Anil Lost.”

Due to the tie-up between Mukesh and Anil Ambani, the war that has been started from last 8 years on the issue of “who is the king of Reliance kingdom?” is stopped and now competition starts. In 2002, Dhirubhai Ambani passed away and the dispute regarding the Reliance kingdom has been exploded in the country. Today, everyone realized the famous saying, “everything is fair in love and war.”

But many of us could not know the exact issue behind it. I think below determinations surely judge the back history of Reliance Case.

All Indian citizens were waiting for the result from honorable Chief Justice Mr. K. G. BalKrishnan. 7th May, 2010 is the date Chief Justice Mr. BalKrishnan was going to sign the result of the most important Reliance Case in his tenure before retirement. This case yet gets not only the importance of the relationship between two brothers belongs to India’s #1 Industrialist family; even so it is the battle between Reliance Industries and Reliance Natural Resources. There are various vehement discussions going on; from the application of national wealth up to the investors of important corporate governance are the various aspects of this case.

Next day, there is news on every leading newspaper placed with a headline “Mukesh Wins! Anil Lost.” It is the main important issue – will Indian economy and investors win in future? Before thinking on the results that has been affect the future of various investors we have to take care of the consequences and the basics of these vehement discussions.
