Yesterday I read a sentence “Asian Development Bank in its advisory has asked women to avoid short skirts as it could hurt Indian sensibilities and may lead to sexual harassment“. Yeah! It is the news from one of my best portal msn.com.
Each day, women are exhibited to danger as soon as they leave their homes, and they are often even faulted for prompting the crime. Of all the cities in India, it has the most cases of rape and molestation. In the past decade, law-breakings against women have importantly increased in the country. As a matter of fact, almost 90% of all reported atrocities were committed on women and girls.
These are not just cases of knowing malice in a glance or salacious remarks; many of us are involve fumbling in public areas, sometimes even gang rape or rape-murder. The ugly truth, according to government statistics, is that a woman is raped in India every 20 minutes and Delhi is not far behind it. I don’t know the exact answer that reveals the truth to avoid short skirts that may lead to sexual harassment. But it is true!
For the past several years, India’s national capital – Delhi has systematically been declared as the most dangerous city for women. The metro even gained a reputation for being the “rape capital” of the country, as highlighted by the cases of gang rape in the past few months. 84% of those surveyed agree that Delhi is the most unsafe places for women.
In fact we do not have any right to just blame Delhi (even though the figures are high). It happen every corner of India and we people just lighten the candles. Is really a candle march sufficient to stop all these things? I know your answer!
